Heavy rain is expected to hit isolated areas across several districts of Assam in the coming days, including the Greater Guwahati area. This weather pattern poses a heightened risk of waterlogging, disrupted traffic, and localised landslides in susceptible areas. Authorities are on high alert, with emergency systems poised to respond.

In response to recent landslides due to torrential rains, the DIPR Assam has urged all residents, especially those in low-lying and hillside regions, to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys with caution, avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall as per the official advisory.

Residents in vulnerable zones should watch for flood or landslide warnings and keep essential items handy. Assistance can be sought from ASDMA or DDMA through provided helpline numbers. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated with official weather forecasts and advisories to ensure their safety as the rainfall continues.

The India Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh could see isolated heavy rainfall. Recent weather reports showed significant rainfall in several districts, with Sonitpur recording the highest at 14 cm.
