In a recent urgent debate at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, the United Nations' rights chief expressed strong disapproval of Israel's attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar. The leaders were reportedly in Doha for ceasefire negotiations.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, described the strike on September 9 as a shocking violation of international law. He stated that the attack not only assaulted regional peace and stability but also undermined the integrity of global mediation and negotiation processes.
Turk emphasized that such actions by Israel could have severe repercussions for peace efforts, warning of the broader implications for international diplomatic relations.
