A fire erupted at the Jharkhand Police Headquarters in Ranchi early Tuesday, reportedly caused by a short circuit in the data centre development room. The fire, which started around 5 am, affected areas crucial for police operations.
The blaze specifically impacted the room containing the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems and the Human Resources Management System of the special branch. Quick response by emergency services utilizing two fire tenders ensured the fire was contained rapidly.
Despite damage to some equipment and furniture, essential services of the Jharkhand Police remain unaffected. All public and internal police services continue to operate normally. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause and implement preventive measures.
