Pakistan Misses IMF Report Deadline Amid Financial Scrutiny

Pakistan has failed to meet a crucial deadline set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as disclosed in a media report on Tuesday. The report, which was intended to outline recommendations for enhancing judicial integrity and governance, remains unpublished.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting on Monday to review progress on the IMF conditions prior to the second review talks scheduled for September 25. The meeting revealed that while most fiscal conditions were met, key commitments regarding governance within state-owned enterprises and institutions were not fulfilled.
The government missed the deadline for the Governance and Corruption Diagnostic report and has not amended laws for state-owned companies as required by the IMF. The failure to comply with these conditions threatens the timeline of the $7 billion bailout package agreement.
