Chief Minister M K Stalin has made an urgent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address a significant fertilizer shortfall in Tamil Nadu. The state is experiencing a critical shortage of urea, DAP, MOP, and complex fertilizers, receiving only 57% of the allocated supply from April to August this year.
Stalin has called for immediate action from the Union Government, requesting an additional supply of key fertilizers needed for the Kharif 2025 and the upcoming Rabi 2025 seasons. He emphasized the importance of meeting the rising agricultural demand following an early monsoon and an extraordinary increase in paddy cultivation.
The Chief Minister stressed Tamil Nadu's role as a major paddy producer and the state's commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity. He highlighted the need for prompt fertilizer availability to prevent hindrances to the growing season, which currently covers 5.661 lakh hectares, surpassing last year's figures.
