In a pressing plea to the Centre, Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian has called for an additional Rs 151 crore under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) to aid in the restoration of farmland damaged by recent floods.

Addressing a national agriculture conference chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Khudian highlighted the extensive damage—affecting 5 lakh acres across 2,185 villages—caused by unprecedented flooding in Punjab's border districts.

He urged the Centre to expedite funds and seed supplies, noting, "The people of Punjab have always supported the nation in times of need." Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan assured that the Centre would extend its support to help mitigate the crises in Punjab's agricultural landscape.
