CBI Court Delivers Verdict in Rs 32.28 Crore Fraud Case
The CBI Court in Visakhapatnam has sentenced Kalaka Ramdas, a former Inspector of Central Excise and Customs, along with Polaki Janakiram and a private company, to five years imprisonment each for their involvement in a Rs 32.28 crore fraud case. The accused have also been fined collectively Rs 5.53 lakh.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court in Visakhapatnam handed down a five-year prison sentence to Kalaka Ramdas, a former Inspector of Central Excise and Customs, and Polaki Janakiram, along with a private company implicated in a Rs 32.28 crore fraud, the agency disclosed on Wednesday.
The CBI, which filed the case in August 2005, alleged that Janakiram conspired with an unnamed accomplice to impersonate and defraud the Excise and Customs department, securing licenses and materials under false pretenses. The conspiracy also involved fictitious identity creation and forgery.
Upon completing its investigation, the CBI presented its findings in August 2008. Following the trial, the court ruled against the accused, enacting a collective fine of Rs 5.53 lakh and sending Ramdas and Janakiram to a Central Prison in Visakhapatnam.
