The Noida International Airport, popularly known as Jewar Airport, will be officially opened on October 30, 2025, heralding a new era for aviation in the National Capital Region (NCR). The commencement of flight operations, anticipated within 45 days of the inauguration, will initially connect at least 10 key cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu announced on Thursday, "Jewar International Airport will open on October 30, 2025, with operations commencing within 45 days thereafter." The plan for the airport's initial phase includes a single runway and a terminal designed to manage 12 million passengers each year, with expansion capabilities to accommodate up to 70 million passengers through four phases.

Situated 75 kilometers from Delhi, Jewar Airport will become the second international airport in the NCR, alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport, and is set to improve transportation links in western Uttar Pradesh. It is positioned to become a crucial hub for cargo activities, thereby boosting logistics capabilities and fostering economic growth.

The airport infrastructure includes connections via six roads, rapid rail-cum-metro systems, and pod taxis, along with a CAT-III B Instrument Landing System to support operations during low visibility conditions. Developed in partnership with the Uttar Pradesh government and Zurich Airport International AG, this Public-Private Partnership emphasizes strategic collaboration.

Beyond improving regional connectivity, Jewar Airport is anticipated to catalyze real estate developments and generate approximately 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, reducing the operational burden on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, and invigorating the regional aviation sector.
