Speaking at a global bamboo conference, Fadnavis outlined plans for wasteland mapping to establish bamboo plantations, starting in Nagpur. This move aligns with the government's objective to mitigate climate change impacts and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Highlighting the Central government's recognition of bamboo as a grass, Fadnavis expressed the state's commitment to creating integrated markets and livelihood opportunities around the crop. Additionally, a massive biodiversity improvement project involving the planting of five crore plants, including bamboo, is underway in Gadchiroli to support a new mega steel city.
