Yasin Malik's Courtroom Battle: From Peacemaker to Terror Accusations
JKLF chief Yasin Malik argues before the Delhi High Court that he was a peace advocate, collaborating with successive Indian governments, including meetings with top officials. Malik claims his efforts transformed into accusations of terrorism tied to a 2017 case. He remains defiant despite facing a potential death penalty.

Yasin Malik, leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, has told the Delhi High Court that he was involved in peace talks with six successive Indian governments, from VP Singh to Manmohan Singh, contradicting allegations of terrorism.
Malik, serving a life sentence for terror funding, detailed in written submissions his interactions with key Indian officials who invited him to participate in peace processes, including a ceasefire initiative during Prime Minister Vajpayee's term. He claims his peace efforts were later misrepresented.
Following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A, Malik says his 2006 meeting with militant leaders, at India's behest, was distorted to justify charges against him. Facing an NIA appeal for the death penalty, Malik remains resolute, likening his potential fate to that of executed separatist Maqbool Bhat.
