Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have welcomed the introduction of new Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, which are expected to significantly impact the agriculture and dairy industries. The changes, unveiled on Monday, are poised to bring about reduced costs and higher profits, especially benefiting small and medium-scale farmers.
Noteworthy adjustments include zero GST on milk and cheese, alongside lower rates on agricultural machinery such as tractors and solar-powered equipment. The overhaul is designed to promote integrated farming, offering financial relief to farmers while presenting better income avenues.
In his address via video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the nationwide impact of these reforms. He emphasized that the GST Bachat Utsav (Savings Festival) aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign, aiming to bolster savings and make essential goods more accessible across different societal segments.
