On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 156th birth anniversary, Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant paid his respects by adorning Gandhi's statue with a flower garland, a gesture of reverence witnessed across India. Sawant highlighted the annual celebration in Old Goa, focusing on Gandhi's messages of religious harmony and self-reliance.

The national fervor was evident as political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, traditionally commemorated Gandhi Jayanti. PM Modi, at Raj Ghat, extolled Gandhi's values of courage and service, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to his vision of a 'Viksit Bharat,' a developed nation nurtured by Gandhi's principles.

President Draupadi Murmu joined in the tribute at both Raj Ghat, honoring Gandhi, and Vijay Ghat, recognizing Lal Bahadur Shastri. The collective homage paid by leaders underscores the deep-seated respect and adherence to Gandhi's transformative impact on India's socio-political fabric.
