The Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA India) has been formally invited by the Director General of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) to a crucial consultation in the national capital. This meeting is set to focus on the association's potential involvement as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the investigation of the AI 171 crash.

The crash involved Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which tragically ended just after take-off on June 12, claiming 260 lives in Ahmedabad. The incident underscores the need for a robust investigation, viewed as compromised by the Federation of Indian Pilots, who have called for a judicial probe into AAIB's inquiry processes.

AAIB's preliminary findings reveal internal cockpit disagreements and inappropriate fuel management as investigation points. This session marks a significant step towards enhancing aviation safety with input from professional pilots, aiming to decode cockpit recordings and ascertain the exact sequence of events.
