Himachal CM Champions Unity Against Drug Abuse on Dussehra

On Dussehra, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid his respects at the Shri Hanuman Temple in Shimla's Jakhu area, praying for the state's peace and prosperity. According to official sources, Sukhu also lit effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran, representing the victory of truth over evil.
Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted Dussehra as a symbol of triumphing virtue and urged citizens to unite in combating the societal scourge of drug abuse. 'Just as Lord Rama defeated Ravana, we must join forces against today's challenges,' he said. Sukhu called on residents to overcome differences and strive for a drug-free Himachal.
The event saw the presence of Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, and other prominent figures. It attracted a large crowd of locals and tourists who witnessed traditional festivities, including chanting and the ceremonial burning of effigies.
