Historic Sikh Pilgrimage Approved: A Step Towards Unity and Harmony

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Sri Akal Takht Sahib have expressed their approval of the Indian government's decision to allow a Sikh pilgrimage to Pakistan. This follows the government's reconsideration of its earlier stance limiting the religious trip.

The pilgrimage, taking place to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, is of profound importance to Sikhs worldwide, and the decision to restrict it previously caused disappointment, as expressed by SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami.

Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj from Sri Akal Takht Sahib hailed the decision as a response to community prayers, highlighting its potential to enhance harmony and bilateral relations. The reversal follows appeals from political figures and community leaders to revise security-based restrictions.
