Unrest Unleashed: Protests Escalate in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has expressed significant concern over the escalating law and order situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, where recent protests have left nine dead. In response, a high-ranking federal delegation has been dispatched to Muzaffarabad to engage with protesters seeking resolution to their demands.

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee's three-day strike catalyzed the unrest, following unsuccessful negotiations between the committee, PoK representatives, and federal authorities. The protests have witnessed fatalities comprising six civilians and three police officers, with scores injured during the clashes.

Sharif has called for a transparent investigation and urged peaceful demonstrations, emphasizing restraint by law enforcement. Efforts are ongoing to settle the situation peacefully, with further talks expected to address the committee's 38-point charter of demands.
