Gitanjali Angmo, the wife of climate advocate Sonam Wangchuk, has expressed alarming concerns over the constant surveillance surrounding her movement and the detention of a staff member. Wangchuk, who was taken into custody under the National Security Act, was recently transferred to the Jodhpur Central Jail in Rajasthan after violent protests erupted in Leh on September 24.

Angmo revealed to ANI that she is being trailed all over Delhi, with a car consistently shadowing her movements. She described the dire situation of one of her staff members detained by the police, alleging severe mental and physical torture. In response, Angmo has filed a habeas corpus petition with the Supreme Court challenging her husband's preventive detention.

Despite reaching out to authorities, Angmo has not received any formal response regarding her husband's detention conditions. She emphasized her fears for her husband's welfare, raising questions about the fairness of justice. Angmo, while receiving broad support from various sectors, insists on maintaining the non-political nature of their legal crusade, reflecting their core values of advocacy for science, education, and the environment.
