Pune city witnessed a major mock drill on Friday involving multiple agencies to test emergency preparedness amidst potential threats like terrorist attacks. The exercise, conducted on Fergusson College Road, was aimed at evaluating the ability of agencies to respond effectively under pressure, officials stated.

Incorporating a dummy bomb blast as part of the drill at Deccan Gymkhana, it saw active participation from the police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), fire brigade, and ambulance services. This coordinated effort was critical in assessing inter-agency communication and crisis management capabilities, according to the Special Branch official.

To ensure the smooth execution of this drill, traffic on Fergusson College Road and J M Road was strategically diverted. This re-routing facilitated unhampered operations and minimized disruption during the crucial exercise, police officials added.
