Fernando Alonso, representing Aston Martin, topped the leaderboard in the first practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix. He edged out Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's reigning champion Max Verstappen on Friday.

Championship contender Oscar Piastri and McLaren cohort Lando Norris claimed the fifth and sixth positions respectively, trailing Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton. Despite not hitting Singapore's sweltering conditions due to the FIA's heat regulation, Alonso's swift lap secured his lead.

Meanwhile, the session saw its own drama as Alex Albon's Williams caught fire due to a rear brake issue, prematurely ending his session without a lap time. The team remains hopeful for his participation in subsequent practices.
