A Delhi court has placed Chaitanyananda Saraswati in a 14-day judicial custody following allegations that he molested 17 female students. The controversial figure was brought before judicial magistrate Animesh Kumar at the Patiala House Courts after a five-day police custody.
In court, Saraswati's counsel successfully argued for access to the seizure memo and case diaries. The court also sought the police's response on requests concerning his attire and dietary needs in custody, asserting the 62-year-old's reported rights.
Notably, police investigations uncovered serious financial misconduct, including frozen assets amounting to Rs 8 crore across multiple accounts, fake affiliations with the United Nations and BRICS, and manipulative monitoring of the students through a CCTV app. Saraswati allegedly used various aliases to further his deceitful operations even after the FIR was lodged.
