In a sharp rebuke, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over flood and landslide mismanagement in Darjeeling. Accusing the Trinamool Congress of land encroachments and neglecting drain maintenance, Ghosh attributed these issues as primary causes of the recent natural calamities.

Ghosh lambasted Banerjee for what he perceives as a lack of accountability, claiming she merely seeks photo opportunities and demands funds from the Central government without assuming responsibility. This criticism coincided with comments from BJP's West Bengal President, Shamik Bhattacharya, who condemned Banerjee's attendance at the Durga Puja carnival during a critical time for North Bengal's residents.

Heavy rains recently hit Darjeeling, leading to severe landslides, road closures, and casualties, including seven deaths. Bhattacharya accused the state administration of incompetence and insensitivity, alleging no lessons were learned from previous disasters like the Amphan cyclone.
