Karnataka's Koppal district is gripped by shock following the brutal murder of Venkatesh Kurubara, a prominent BJP Yuva Morcha leader. Police revealed on Wednesday that the 31-year-old was killed in Gangavathi due to his involvement in a 2003 case that helped police apprehend suspects.
Superintendent of Police, Ram L Arasiddi, confirmed that the motive stems from an old incident where Kurubara assisted the authorities. 'We are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice promptly,' he stated, as investigations hint at a possible gang war fueled by historical enmities and gambling disputes.
The attack, which involved the use of long maces, occurred as Kurubara was traveling from Devi Camp to Gangavathi. His murder has drawn widespread grief, with Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra expressing heartfelt condolences and urging for peace amidst the turmoil.
