No formal charges have been filed against a woman who confronted Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan concerning traffic congestion caused by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally in Worli. Mumbai Police clarified there is no FIR against the woman who criticized and shouted at demonstrators at the April 21 protest near Jambhori Maidan.
In a parallel development, law student Zen Sadavarte has submitted a formal complaint, requesting an FIR against another woman accused of using abusive language towards police during a separate governmental protest. Sadavarte described the woman's conduct during the Women's Reservation Bill protest as disrespectful and contrary to public service norms.
The BJP organized a 'Jan Akrosh Mahila Padyatra' in reaction to the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill not passing in the Lok Sabha due to insufficient support. This bill aimed to fast-track 33% women reservation in legislatures by using data from the 2011 Census. The failure highlighted ongoing disagreements about delimitation and seat expansion.
