Youth Congress Activists Protest Power Cuts by Occupying KSEB Office
Youth Congress activists conducted a protest at the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) office against unannounced power cuts. They alleged continuous supply for KSEB while residents faced outages. Despite statements from officials denying load shedding, temporary overloads have caused issues due to increased consumption.

Youth Congress activists took an unusual step to protest unannounced power cuts by staging a sleep-in at the KSEB office in Olayil. The group, equipped with mats and torches, spent the night at the office as a statement against what they see as preferential treatment for KSEB premises.
The activists argue that unannounced power cuts are affecting vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly, contradicting claims made by the LDF government about having eliminated load-shedding in the state. This follows a similar protest held in Palakkad the day before.
Despite denials from Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty and KSEB about load shedding, citing temporary overloads due to heightened electricity demand, the state's consumption records indicate a severe power shortage. On April 17 alone, daily consumption reached a peak of 116.11 million units, prompting regulatory action to approve additional power purchases.
