A 17-year-old girl died by suicide at a 'One Stop Centre' on Monday night, authorities have confirmed. The incident comes after the girl's parents refused to accept her following her elopement with a boyfriend, pushing the young woman to take such a drastic step.
Police have initiated an investigation into the case and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The teenager, who left home due to her relationship, was placed in the facility by the Child Welfare Committee just days before her death.
'One Stop Centres' are crucial for aiding women in distress, part of the 'Mission Shakti' initiative. Yet, despite their purview, such entities couldn't prevent this tragedy, highlighting failures within the system aimed to protect vulnerable women.
