Madhya Pradesh Empowers Women with Major Cash Transfer Under Ladli Behna Scheme

In a significant boost for women's economic empowerment in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will distribute over Rs 1835.67 crores to 1.25 crore female beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna Scheme. The transaction, marking the 36th installment of the initiative, will be executed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at a program in Gotegaon, Narsinghpur district.

Launched in June 2023, the scheme aims to enhance economic self-reliance, dignity, and decision-making power among women. A total of Rs 55,926.51 crore has already been directly transferred to beneficiaries since the inception of the program, as per official records. Initially providing Rs 1,000 monthly, the scheme's allocation increased to Rs 1,250 and Rs 1,500 in subsequent years.

This initiative extends its reach to women across rural, tribal, urban, widowed, divorced, and abandoned demographics, utilizing Aadhaar-linked accounts to maintain transparency in funds distribution. With a dedicated budget allocation peaking at Rs 23,882.81 crore for 2026-27, the Ladli Behna Scheme continues to bolster women's participation in self-help groups, businesses, and other self-employment ventures, while simultaneously addressing crucial needs in nutrition, education, and healthcare.
