In a significant political development, Congress MLA Aryadan Shoukath has expressed his admiration for Keralam Chief Minister-designate VD Satheesan, labeling him as an accomplished and seasoned leader. Shoukath emphasized that if Satheesan takes on the role of Chief Minister, Keralam will benefit from an exemplary individual steering the government.
The Congress party has affirmed Satheesan as the forthcoming Chief Minister after the United Democratic Front's overwhelming triumph in the 2026 Assembly elections. Satheesan is poised to be sworn in as Chief Minister at Lok Bhavan on May 18. Shoukath noted, "With a 25-year record as an MLA, Satheesan has shown remarkable capacity. If he assumes office, Keralam will see a truly outstanding leader." He also mentioned not having personal expectations within the party due to his current contentment with past roles.
Responding to critiques from the BJP, Shoukath declared their statements incorrect, underscoring the UDF allies' and the Muslim League's support while awaiting the high command's resolution. Similarly, RSP MLA Shibu Baby John confirmed the Congress high command's unanimous decision on leadership in Keralam, despite multiple worthy contenders.
Moreover, John acknowledged the stature of Ramesh Chennithala, citing the challenging decision faced by Congress. He also indicated that ministerial demands from the RSP are under discussion and will be clarified subsequently.
