Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides on Thursday said India and the European Union offer ''infinite opportunities'' on the trade and economic front.
The island nation, which is pitching itself as a gateway for Indian companies to expand into the EU market, looks forward to realising these opportunities, Christodoulides said at an event here.
''India is one of the most dynamic economies in the world. Europe remains one of the world's largest and most stable markets,'' the visiting dignitary said in the event hosted at India's largest stock bourse NSE.
''They are two of the world's largest democracies with a combined market of two billion people. The two together translate into infinite opportunity. And we look forward to realising these opportunities together,'' he added.
He said the partnership with India is ''very valuable'' to Cyprus and the way forward in ties is ''crystal clear''.
Christodoulides also affirmed that Cyprus will play its role in deepening the ties and that new partnerships are needed in areas such as financial services, technology innovation, trading, connectivity, and energy.
''Cypress combines European credibility and regulatory centricity with agility, connectivity, and openness to global partnerships,'' he said.
Christodoulides, who is on a four-day visit to India, left for New Delhi later in the evening.
