Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has sharply criticized the Union Government for not taking necessary steps to procure maize, highlighting the struggles farmers face amid bumper crops. According to the Telangana CMO, the state government has initiated maize procurement to mitigate farmer hardships.
In a discussion with CPI leaders, the Chief Minister pointed out the state's financial commitment to purchasing maize despite the economic burden. During the meeting, CPI delegation, led by MLA K Sambasiva Rao, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for increasing the minimum wage of workers.
Chief Minister Reddy accused the Union Government of inaction, stating it merely announced the Minimum Support Price without procuring essential food grains. In his dialogue with state CPM leaders, Reddy appealed for joint efforts to pressure the centre, addressing the lack of procurement affecting farming communities.
