Steering India’s Maritime Future: A Reform-Driven Vision for 2047

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, convened a high-level meeting to chart a reform-driven roadmap for India's maritime sector, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision. The focus was on strengthening governance, improving ease of doing business, and ensuring effective grievance redressal with a structured approach.

The Ministry announced the 'Maritime Reform Utsav' to commemorate 12 years of maritime reforms, highlighting achievements in ports, shipping, coastal infrastructure, and digitalisation. Sonowal emphasised the unprecedented transformation under PM Modi, with the mantra of 'Reform, Perform, Transform and Inform' driving the sector's global emergence.

Sonowal stressed the need for effective inter-ministerial coordination, stakeholder engagement, and use of digital platforms for improved service delivery and accountability. A focus on skill development, digital governance, and leveraging AI technologies was highlighted as crucial for future growth, underlining the continuous reform agenda for maritime development aligned with national visions.
