Local Heroes: Land Donation Spurs Border Security in Cooch Behar

In an unprecedented gesture aimed at enhancing national security, three residents from the Satgram Manabari area of Mathabhanga I Block in Cooch Behar district have voluntarily contributed 33 decimals of land. This land donation is facilitating the construction of crucial border fencing along the India-Bangladesh frontier.

One of the land donors, Bikash Rai, stressed the importance of this initiative, stating that the fencing will significantly curb infiltration and enhance safety for both the village and the country. He lauded the central government's efforts, emphasizing the dire need previously faced due to lack of proper border security.

This initiative follows a decisive policy shift by the newly formed state government, which prioritized national security through the transfer of land to the Border Security Force (BSF). Efforts include a larger plan to hand over 600 acres to the BSF, enhancing security and preventing extensive smuggling and theft.
