Uttar Pradesh's Extended Food Safety Drive: Ensuring Compliance and Public Health

The Uttar Pradesh government has extended its initiative requiring food business operators to register and obtain licenses until May 31. Without valid documentation, businesses will face closure. The campaign, started by the FSDA in April, aims to ensure compliance with food safety laws by bringing all food operations under regulation.

The state government highlights that the campaign isn't just about legal conformity but ensuring public health, as unregulated food businesses can pose serious risks. To aid this, district-level officers are holding camps to facilitate easy access to registration and licensing for food vendors and restaurant owners.

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directive, thousands have already registered, but authorities warn that post-May 31, strict consequences will follow for those who haven't complied. This initiative aims for total compliance, reaching from local street vendors to upscale restaurants, ensuring they adhere to safety standards.
