Authorities in Odisha undertook a significant operation on Tuesday, targeting restaurants in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Cuttack due to a widening diarrhoea outbreak.

Diarrhoea was initially detected in Jajpur on June 9, resulting in over 200 patients requiring medical attention, according to officials. Led by tahasildar Manas Tripathy, teams inspected eateries in Barchana town, Jajpur.

Mismatches in hygiene prompted immediate warnings and, in some cases, the threat of closures for non-compliance. Similar efforts are underway in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, where authorities sealed venues found violating health standards.
