Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as the best-performing state under the smaller states category for its impressive execution of the tobacco-free youth campaign (TFYC) 2.0. This acknowledgment comes from the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, highlighting the state's commitment to reducing tobacco use among its youth population.

The award was presented by Ministry's Additional Secretary V. Hekali Zhimomi and Director of Drug and General Disease Dr. L. Swasti Charan. Dr. Hatobin Mai, in charge of the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), and NTCP state consultant Karpa Marde, accepted the honor.

The campaign, conducted from September 23 to November 24 last year, focused on raising awareness about the risks associated with tobacco, promoting tobacco cessation, and countering the influence of the tobacco industry. The initiative was implemented across all 26 NTCP districts, achieving significant milestones like declaring villages and educational institutions tobacco-free, resulting in enhanced community health and safety.
