In an event underscoring the dual focus on health and social awareness, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday emphasized yoga's importance for mental and physical well-being while raising concerns about HIV/AIDS in the region. Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, Saha noted the global endorsement of International Yoga Day by 177 countries at the United Nations General Assembly.

Addressing participants at the state-level International Yoga Day celebration at Hapania, West Tripura, Saha remarked on the widespread presence of yoga centers worldwide, including 1.30 lakh in the US and China. This year's theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' reflects a universal commitment to well-being.

Accompanied by State Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Saha shifted attention to the pressing issue of HIV/AIDS. Alarmed by rising infection rates, particularly among students, the northeastern state plans to implement sex education in schools and promote a mass movement against the disease. Saha stressed vigilance over youth to curb infections and urged collective action to combat the escalating threat.
