An alarming measles outbreak has been reported in Manipur's Senapati district, with officials confirming 11 cases on Friday. The affected areas include Council River Colony, Phyamai Vabuh, TNK Gate, Yapao Colony, DV School, Road to Emesiiphro, and Mt Everest areas.
Officials stated that 10 out of the 11 patients had not been vaccinated for measles. In response, the district administration has initiated a rapid immunisation survey, highlighting significant gaps and urging residents to vaccinate.
A multi-stakeholder meeting has been scheduled to coordinate efforts in controlling the outbreak and tackling the rising vaccine hesitancy that has exacerbated the situation, as explained by a district official.
