In a remarkable gesture, the Tiruchirappalli district witnessed a heartwarming act as over 300 litres of breast milk were donated to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital Milk Bank, significantly impacting the lives of premature and critically ill infants.
Selva Brindha, a dedicated mother of two, contributed a total of 300.17 litres over a span of 22 months, from April 2023 to February 2025. Her donations accounted for nearly half of the milk bank's collection for the 2023-24 period, as confirmed by hospital officials.
Encouraged by a non-governmental organisation, her unwavering commitment earned her a place in the 'Asia Book of Records' and the 'India Book of Records'. She will be honored by milk bank officials during the 'World Breastfeeding Week' ceremony on August 7.
