YSRCP leader and ex-health minister V Rajini voiced her strong opposition to the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to implement a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model for the construction of medical colleges. She argued that such a move would make healthcare and medical education prohibitively expensive.
Rajini accused Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav of misrepresenting the facts, alleging that the NDA coalition government was attempting to privatize public health infrastructure under the pretense of reform. The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has resolved to construct 10 new medical colleges using the PPP model.
Highlighting past achievements, Rajini noted that in the 2019-24 period, despite challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic, the previous YSRCP government had successfully initiated five new medical colleges and had secured permissions for more, contrasting the current administration's approach.
