Tragedy Strikes: Indonesian School Collapse Leaves Students Trapped
A building collapse at Al Khoziny Islamic school in Indonesia's East Java leaves nearly 60 students trapped. Rescuers search for survivors amidst rubble while confirmed fatalities rise to five. The incident draws attention to ongoing construction and reveals no new signs of life as efforts continue.

More than 10 ambulances were stationed near a collapsed Islamic school building in Indonesia's East Java province on Friday, as rescue workers pressed on with their search for nearly 60 students trapped under the debris. The scene was reported by a Reuters journalist on-site.
The Al Khoziny school in Sidoarjo town crumbled on Monday during afternoon prayers, burying hundreds of teenage students. The collapse is attributed to the building's foundations being unable to endure ongoing construction on upper floors. Most of the trapped students are teenage boys aged 13 to 19. Rescue operations included the deployment of a crane to clear debris.
As of late Thursday, the death toll reached five, with an additional 30 people receiving hospital treatment, according to Indonesia's disaster management officials. Rescuers, using both verbal calls and sensors, failed to detect any signs of life while navigating through the building's remnants.
