Bangladesh is grappling with a severe dengue outbreak, with infections and fatalities surging, health experts reveal. The Directorate General of Health Services reports 50,689 cases and 215 deaths as of October 6.
Entomologist Professor Kabirul Bashar from Jahangirnagar University cautions that climate change and poor anti-mosquito initiatives could escalate the situation into an alarming crisis.
Adding to the challenge is an uptick in chikungunya cases. While not often deadly, chikungunya causes severe joint pain. Bangladesh is at risk of repeating 2023's dengue devastation without prompt action.
