The death of a woman and her newborn child at Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) on May 11 has prompted a formal investigation, ordered by Palamu Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat.
MMCH Superintendent Dr. Ajoy Kumar has been given 24 hours to submit a detailed report regarding the incident, which has sparked allegations of inadequate care and the absence of senior medical staff during the critical hours. Pancham Kumar, the woman's husband, claims she was not provided proper treatment upon arrival.
The incident has attracted attention from local BJP leaders, including district general secretary Jyoti Pandey, who have demanded immediate accountability from hospital authorities. A five-member inquiry, involving Heads of Departments, has been established to uncover any lapses in medical protocol.
