An alarming incident took place in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, where one man died and seven others, primarily children, were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after consuming a wild vegetable.

The unfortunate event was reported from Mohra village in the Kotranka subdivision. Members of two families ingested the vegetable and subsequently experienced symptoms of food poisoning on Friday evening, as per official reports.

The affected individuals were initially treated at the Community Health Centre in Kandi before being referred to the Government Medical College Hospital Rajouri for advanced care. Mohammad Hussain, a 60-year-old, succumbed during treatment, while seven others are still receiving medical attention. Officials have commenced an investigation to uncover the exact cause of the poisoning.
