Nepal's Armed Police Force (APF) has significantly increased its vigilance along the country's border areas in response to recent regional security developments. In collaboration with India's Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB), the APF initiated round-the-clock patrolling operations following the aftermath of Operation Sindoor conducted on Wednesday.

The precision strikes by Indian forces targeted nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following a deadly attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 deaths, including a Nepali national. This joint effort between the APF and SSB entails enhanced patrolling and real-time intelligence sharing.

APF's headquarters in Kathmandu has instructed regional units to reinforce monitoring and control unauthorized cross-border movements. The APF is now checking identification at border points, conducting inspections, and gathering intelligence covertly. The agency is also working closely with Nepal Police and local representatives to ensure comprehensive border management.

Simultaneously, efforts have been made to maintain traditional cross-border movement, minimizing disruption to local communities. The APF has also increased surveillance in key urban areas requiring heightened security measures. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Raya highlighted heightened vigilance in sensitive areas, despite ongoing regional tensions.

Local residents have experienced disruptions to daily life and market activities as a result of increased surveillance in districts like Rupandehi. The APF also utilizes canines for security checks, ensuring thorough monitoring amid tensions between India and Pakistan. (ANI)
