Tanveer Ahmed, a former journalist with the BBC and a notable activist from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), has issued a powerful demand for the swift withdrawal of Pakistani military forces from the region. As the leader of the JKA Public Agency, Ahmed stressed that demilitarization by Pakistan is crucial for achieving peace, justice, and the reinstatement of democratic rights in PoJK.

Criticizing Pakistan's sustained military occupation of the area, Ahmed labeled it a contravention of the collective will of the region's inhabitants. He stated, "The Pakistani Army's presence doesn't serve our protection—it represents an instrument of subjugation. It's imperative that Pakistan vacates our territory without causing further harm." He also voiced widespread concerns among the populace about systemic corruption in Pakistan, contending that the citizens believe no business in Pakistan can proceed without corrupt practices. He cautioned against involving PoJK in Pakistan's longstanding political and ideological pursuits, especially the post-independence notion that Muslims require a separate nation.

Ahmed accused the Pakistani government of employing terror tactics, affecting women and children, to quash dissent and maintain control over the region. He described Pakistan as "a burden on earth," emphasizing that demilitarization is the most urgent action towards genuine peace and regional autonomy. "We cannot let more innocent lives be lost in pursuit of Pakistan's objectives. The people of PoJK deserve a life of dignity, free from military oppression," he stated.

Ahmed's appeal has found substantial support among PoJK residents, who are increasingly advocating for regional self-determination and a peaceful future. The inhabitants of PoJK have endured severe injustices—political repression, denial of basic rights, economic exploitation, and silenced freedom of speech. These maladies have entrenched fear and stagnated development within the region. The government's militarized governance has hindered progress and muffled the democratic aspirations of its people.
