In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the suspension of the services of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. This decision comes in response to continued indiscriminate firing and drone intrusions across the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistan.
The corridor, which connects the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India, has been suspended following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Misri addressed a press briefing in New Delhi, confirming the halt until further notice, and highlighted the ongoing challenges in the India-Pakistan security situation.
Adding to the rising tensions, the Pakistani military executed multiple airspace violations on May 7 and 8, drawing condemnation from Misri, who labelled Pakistan's claims against the Indian military as "outrageous." Meanwhile, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh detailed Pakistan's use of civil airliners as shields during the recent failed drone attacks, underscoring the precarious situation in the region.
