Amarjit Singh Dulat, the former chief of India's premier intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has praised Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, for his diplomatic initiative in meeting with US President Donald Trump. Dulat advocates for Munir to visit India and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to foster better relations between the two nations.
Speaking during an exclusive interview at King's College in London, Dulat reflected on Prime Minister Modi's previous visit to Pakistan for a family wedding of Nawaz Sharif, suggesting that Pakistan should reciprocate efforts to ease tensions. He congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir, proposing a visit to Hyderabad House in Delhi to further diplomatic efforts.
Dulat acknowledged the challenging state of India-Pakistan relations amid recent conflicts but expressed hope, referencing Munir's significant diplomatic engagement in Washington. He underlined that events like these could pave the way for dialogue in Delhi, emphasizing the importance of direct talks between India and Pakistan to prevent further conflict.
The former RAW chief also hailed Pakistan's hospitality, recounting his visits to the country post-retirement, and described his camaraderie with ex-ISI chief General Asad Durrani. Meanwhile, Munir appreciated President Trump's role in securing a ceasefire, following contentious operations such as India's Operation Sindoor targeted at terrorist infrastructure.
