In a revealing discussion, Toru Takatani, President of the Global Marketing Group at Hitachi Construction Machinery, articulated the integral role India plays in the company's global vision. Hitachi, a titan in the construction equipment arena, particularly in hydraulic excavators, has been pivotal in infrastructure development worldwide.

The company's engagement with India dates back to 1984, beginning with a technological partnership with the Tata Group. This collaboration introduced cutting-edge Japanese technologies in welding and machine processing to India, evolving into TATA Hitachi Construction Machinery, boasting manufacturing prowess in Kharagpur and Dharwad, with operations centralized at its Bangalore headquarters. This HQ supports over 40,000 machines nationwide.

President Takatani underscored India's potential by comparing it with Japan. While Japan demands 22,000 construction units annually for 120 million people, India only requires 27,000 units despite its vast population of 1.4 billion, spotlighting immense growth opportunities. He praised India's digital landscape for facilitating the seamless integration of the 'ConSite' system, enhancing machine monitoring. India's prowess as an export and R&D hub is further bolstered by the local development of machinery for various global markets and the establishment of a 200-engineer R&D Centre spearheading designs for India and abroad. This aligns with Hitachi's 'Design and Lead from India' strategy, positioning India as a crucial player in their global operations. (ANI)
