Tensions between Israel and Iran have heightened following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, raising questions about India's diplomatic stance. Professor Aswini Kumar Mohapatra, formerly of Jawaharlal Nehru University, advocates for India to employ a careful and balanced approach, emphasizing the need for dialogue over hasty decisions.
Speaking to ANI, Mohapatra stressed the importance of India waiting for the situation to stabilize before clarifying its position. He underlined that India should encourage international efforts towards a peaceful resolution, which aligns with India's economic interests such as the India-Middle East Economic Corridor.
The conflict threatens to disrupt the progress of the IMEC, impact global oil markets, and challenge India's energy security. While India contemplates mediation, Mohapatra suggests collaboration with neutral partners like the EU to diplomatically address regional instability, ensuring India maintains its strategic diplomatic balance.
