Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to depart for Qingdao, China, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers' Meeting taking place on June 25-26. Singh plans to advocate for India's approach to global peace and security, emphasizing the sustained fight against terrorism.
The meeting will see leaders tackle topics like regional and international security, counter-terrorism initiatives, and increasing cooperation among SCO member defence ministries. The Ministry of Defence has signaled India's dedication to SCO's principles and the pursuit of greater multinational peace, regional trade, and connectivity.
Highlighting India's commitment since becoming a full member in 2017, the Ministry recognized SCO's role in fostering multilateralism and cooperation within the region. China, holding SNC chairmanship in 2025, will host the meeting under the theme 'Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move.'
