Historic India-Ghana Partnership Elevated to 'Comprehensive Partnership'

In a pivotal development, India and Ghana have decided to elevate their bilateral relationship to the stature of a 'Comprehensive Partnership.' This announcement was made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's momentous visit to Ghana, where he and Ghanaian President John Mahama engaged in bilateral talks in Accra.

Central to this upgraded partnership is a commitment to deepen cooperation in defence and security. 'Our nations will drive collaboration in areas like armed forces training, maritime security, defence supply chains, and cybersecurity, in line with the principle of 'Security through Solidarity,' emphasized PM Modi during a joint press briefing.

Economic ties are also thriving, with bilateral trade surpassing USD 3 billion and Indian investments amounting to $2 billion across 900 projects. Highlighting shared historical struggles for independence, Modi described the India-Ghana partnership as built on common principles. As a gesture of enduring friendship, President Mahama announced that PM Modi would receive Ghana's highest civilian honor, underscoring the visit's significance and solidifying bilateral relations.
